A lot has happened since 2004. Here's a rundown:
Ben moved to Portland, OR
I moved to Los Angeles, CA
I became a computer programmer instead of a tv writer
Ben became involved in like 50 musical projects
I moved to Portland, OR
I got married to my dream woman
Ben and I started a weekly podcast comedy talk show type thing called The Ben & Joey Show
Charlton Heston was taken from us far too soon
But yeah, if you liked the 15 Minute Show (and really, who didn't?) you should check out this thing. You can subscribe in iTunes or just listen to it on the site. Each episode features a new original song and a lot of unoriginal nonsense talk. We're having fun doing it and hope some people will actually listen. TAKE A CHANCE ON US!
the roomies x-mas special has been posted to bloop!
and if you haven't checked it out yet, patrick's new website is bringing christmas cheer to us all!
there's a new video up on bloop. there's other stuff there, too.
here is our last episode ever, and the last video that you'll ever see on this site. pretty soon we'll be posting new stuff on bloop. we're all pretty busy with various stuff (except ben), but we should be doing a couple of shorts every month and maybe some bigger stuff.
also, all of our videos won't be on this site much longer. in a month or two, they'll all come down and we'll put maybe half of them up on bloop. so if you want to be able to watch them all in the future, you should download them now (or just wait and buy our dvd).
so here i am in las vegas and in between lines of coke i think to myself, "hey, did i ever put that movie we made like a month ago up on the website?" "NO!" yelled all the hookers. so here it is, the last 15 minute show short ever: ballin'.
the faster we post these last few videos, the sooner we can get on with our lives! with that, i bring you the visitor! it's like that whoopi goldberg movie "ghost" except better.
we recorded some audio commentaries last night for all the episodes. it was kind of weird and i think we talked over each other a lot, and when i was driving home i kept thinging of things i should have said. but the new joey never looks back! we're going to record some more because a lot of people couldn't make it and we want to get them on there. is it lame to have two commentary tracks on every episode? the old joey might have cared about your thoughts on this, but when the new joey makes a decision, he never looks back!
also, our photos are now nicely organized in this gallery.
recently we got together to watch a movie! here's what went down.
we took a break from our hectic spec script writing to post episode 6, which anthony thompson wrote. it's with all the other videos.
so we had our party and i think the new stuff went over EXCEPTIONALLY well. in fact i would say that if laughter was pancakes, we'd still be eating! starting tomorrow i'll be putting everything online.
this summer i'm going to be working on some stuff for a dvd of the show. we're talking all the episodes, all the shorts, outtakes, deleted scenes, a ton of behind-the-scenes footage, audio commentaries and other stuff. that'll probably take a while. but it's going to be totally hot!
also, for all you dorks out there, we now have an rss feed. if you don't know what that is, i wouldn't worry about it.
in a mind-boggling display of stupidity, the judges of the 24 hour video race have once again denied us the victory that we so obviously deserved. it was bad enough last year when our short my big fat greek wallace, lost to something called bob 3:13 (seriously, try watching those back to back without crying over the brutal injustice), but the results of this year's competition were on another plane of absurdity altogether.
at last night's screening, they played the videos from eight teams in the college division. we knew the judges would be picking the best three videos to move on to the finals, and when we saw what the competition was like, we were feeling pretty secure.
let me try to do these other seven shorts justice: if you composed seven teams through various combinations of trained animals and retarded children, there's a CHANCE that their movies might be as bad as the ones we saw last night. none of the shorts had any kind of significant story, almost all but a few were poorly shot (and the ones that didn't look like they were shot by helen keller were totally pretentious), the acting was uniformly atrocious, sound was terrible and i'm pretty sure none of the teams used original music. also, several of the shorts ran over the five minute limit and were cut off mid-movie.
a lot of the shorts tried to be funny; no one laughed. a lot of them tried to be serious; they were hilarious.
basically, it seemed like there was no way we could lose. so imagine our surprise when the judges return to announce the winners and we didn't even make the top three out of eight.
i've been trying to imagine how this could happen, and i've come to the same conclusion i did last year: the video association of dallas is really fucking stupid.
anyway, i'm putting the movie we made, "the brat pack in: 'the perfect movie'" online so you can all see how amazing it is. please go to the video section, download it and tell us it's great before we kill ourselves.
ok, so a lot of you seem to be coming from the somethingawful forums, and since i don't have $9.95 to sign up there (seriously, what's up with that?) i will make some suggestions here. watch these videos and you will love us forever: (on the next page, make sure you right click & download)
episode 3 (64 MB)
the switch (25 MB)
my big fat greek wallace (23 MB)
starting next week, we'll be posting a ton of new shit pretty constantly, so you might want to sign up for our mailing list on the left side of the page.
that's the only word that can describe the movie that we made over the past 24 hours. it features a standout performance from daniel thompson that will shake audiences to the core and have them coming back for seconds! it's showing tuesday at 9pm at the angelika in dallas and i bet there's a good chance that you might be able to catch it at our big party on saturday the 15th in denton. if you don't want to leave the house, keep reloading this page until you see that it's been put on the website (months from now).
Dudes, don't worry, we totally got this one!
i think there's a pretty good chance we won't win.
OMG! EVERYONE IS DEAD! IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!
i just ruined about a million takes of a scene between anthony & daniel because i simply could NOT stop laughing! these brothers are going places!
ok for all of you reading this at 6:41am, we are moving along at a record pace. seriously, I've never seen such quick production. We'll be done by 7 at the latest.
we shot some stuff in deep ellum and bought a watch from a homeless guy but that's not part of the movie.
after 3 hours and some pretty heated discussions, we finally have a plot. Brian's really upset cause it's not about ladder addiction.
i know that last sentence dosent make sense to those of you "'not in the know." but trust me it's good stuff.
FIRST PLACE HERE WE COME!!!!!!
What's up Fat lip?
Things we've done so far:
1) played UNO
2) waited for joey to call us with the Theme for this year's contest
3) played MORE uno
4) came up with an economic system solely based on dancing
5) wrote this list
SO as you can tell, WE ARE SO BUSY. and we'll be up ALL NIGHT!!!!
more posts later...
we're gearing up for our last big party on may 15th where we'll be showing a huge amount of new stuff. also, starting tonight at midnight we'll be doing the 24 hour video race again. you may remember that last year our efforts (my big fat greek wallce) earned us a humiliating second place finish. this year should be even worse. regardless, we should be updating live as things progress.
also, new stuff at soup!
if you look really close on our video page you'll find a new short that we did for ben's final project in his film production class! as you can see, ben has learned a lot over the past semester.
also, you might notice that there's a bunch of stuff on the right side of this page now. please disregard it.
more news: if you're lucky enough to attend case western reserve university in cleveland, ohio, you can watch the 15 minute show on "ignite tv" every night at 8pm! note to case western admission department: get ready for an avalanche of applications!
and finally, congrats to anthony and daniel thompson! their new website soup.bloop.org was the most visited site on the internet yesterday! way to go, guys!
check out me and anthony's website at soup.bloop.org! it's got some pretty funny stuff on there and even features actual cast members from the 15 minute show! we would be very happy if you did.
hey everyone! we recently caught "lotto fever" and taped the results!
in other news: i guess the show really is on tv now because weird people have been stopping us to talk about it (and how great we are). but apparently nttv is about to go off the air or something so our fame will be short-lived. i think this will break daniel's heart, he's been practicing his autograph for months now.
our last party is going to be saturday, may 15th at patrick's house. it's going to be a BBQ so you might want to order your meat and beer now just to be safe! i bet ben will be picking up some veggie dogs! then when the sun goes down we'll make you laugh with some hilarious moving pictures!
also, big ups to taber at airtoons.com for practically forcing people to come to our site!
supposedly we're on now at 12:30 am on nttv (channel 22) in denton? several other college tv stations around the country are airing our show now, or will be soon. more details soon!
the brickhaus cafe - 219 W. Oak, Denton, TX (map)
we've got some new photos up, download them before the cease-and-desists hit!
03/11/04 - bloody nose
03/26/04 - partying with josh botana
03/27/04 - doing actual work
believe it or not, episodes 5, 6 and 7 are almost done, thanks to anthony & daniel's morale boosting vaudeville routines! keep up the good work, guys!
also, josh botana has been added to the cast page! way to go, josh!
in honor of st. patty's day we've got a new short online called "the switch"!
two great things about today:
1. it's the start of spring break
2. agent cody banks 2: destination london comes out!
i don't know about you guys, but for me that means 9 straight days of CODY BANKS ACTION!
he's a spy but he's also a kid!
also, our new short, the question is available now for download and features some excellent acting by josh and even peter!
more shorts coming soon. and shout out to whoever's visiting our site from nbc. we're eager to sell out for any price!
our new (old) short, chewin' the fats, is probably some of our best work ever! we've been waiting for the right time to unveil it, and since that time is apparently never going to come, we'll just put it online now.
i'd like to apologize for the new short, meat curtains.
also, there's a song from episode 4 called "waiting room" available on the audio page.
i'll catch you guys later, i'm off to see that new movie where mel gibson plays jesus!
on wednesday we had our big screening at the brickhaus cafe and it went extremely well. luckily, you have the chance to look at some photos that will tell you absolutely nothing about the event.
you might want to "surf" on over to the video page to check out our latest episode, the long-awaited #4, and a new promo with some footage from upcoming episodes.
NEWSFLASH - we will be hosting an enormous 15 minute show event:
WHEN: wednesday, february 18 at 10:00
WHERE: the brickhaus cafe - 219 W. Oak, Denton, TX (map)
WHAT: four episodes of our show (including the premiere of episode 4) on the big screen
WHAT ELSE: lots of shorts and a ton of new, never-before-seen material
HOW MUCH: totally free! but everyone is encouraged to make a wig donation.
WHO: whoopi goldberg
it should be a really fun night, and let's face it, you've got nothing better to do.
so for a while now we've been working on the next three episodes of the show, here's some photographic proof. on saturday we put in almost twelve hours; romina documented about 1/12th of that time in painstaking detail!
also: i heard something happened at the super bowl, but nobody will tell me what. PLEASE CLUE ME IN!
episode 4 is finished. sometime next week or the week after we are going to have our huge SEASON 1 GALA. details and venue are being worked out. after that we'll put it on the internet under the title "the paris hilton sex tape"! keep your eyes peeled for that!
the scripts for episodes 5, 6 and 7 have been finished for a while. we've shoot significant portions of each episode. i guarantee (at least) all three of these episodes will be done by may. the writing, acting and production values are at all time highs.
brian skowron is still in hiding after the controversy caused by his super bowl halftime show choreography. he wanted me to tell everyone that he's doing ok.
so a few days ago we shot this pretty big scene and we took a bunch of pictures. care to view them? also, the whole photo section has been redone. now there aren't any HILARIOUS captions, but it's a lot easier to browse through (and update).
school got kind of CRAZY for everyone but we're filming the last scene from episode 4 on wednesday. untill then check out the new promo in the video section, that should whet your appetite!
it seems like we've been shooting a ridiculous amount of stuff lately. we're almost done with the next episode and we've been working on no less than 5 shorts (for various school projects) and a couple other odds & ends.
so that's some pretty exciting stuff, huh?
apparently we have been officially kicked off the radio station, and i'm still trying to figure out what we did wrong.
big ups to mark lambert! we couldn't have done it without you!
still working on episode 4. not sure what's up with the radio station. PPL NEED 2 QUIT H8IN.
benny and i directed the intervention and a lot of your old favorites are in it. this one has our most complicated shot EVER!
also, check the cast page to see our latest addition, peter hofstad.
<3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM
ROOMIES aired sunday night on 88.1FM and we already might be in trouble. please help us try to keep it on the air (and listen to the first episode in case you missed it). check out this thread on our message board.
i didn't think people still listend to the radio but ben assured me they do. so if you live in dallas, listen to "frequency down" on 88.1 KNTU sunday night at 10:30-12:00. you will be one of the select few to hear "ROOMIES," a brand new radio sitcom starring ben and i. the first episode features guest star kendra kearby. it should be on in the second half of the show so CHECK IT OUT, PALZ!
ok everybody there's some new stuff up so let's not waste any time here with jokes!
check out "make it to break it" in the video section. we shot this a few weeks ago. anthony and daniel directed it and it features our good friend mike gonzalez ("mikey" if you're me or ben).
"B-U-D-D-Y" (a song from episode 3) is available now in the audio section. it sounds really good as a high quality mp3!
if you like bad college television (and clearly you do), you might be interested to know that kendra and i are teaming up to host "nt scene" on channel 22 in denton. we shot stuff for the first episode sunday night. it promises to be really, really stupid, and even if i knew when it was airing i probably wouldn't tell anyone.
head over to the completely neglected audio section to download what is probably the greatest song we will ever do (not counting our cover of sum 41's cover of michael jackson's "smooth criminal"): "the fire inside." recorded way back in april (i think), this inspirational song plays over a training-for-the-big-tournament montage in "when pogs fly." that's ben meyercord on vocals.
like the rest of the country, we've been struck with "duplex" fever! we haven't been able to get much work done, since most of our waking hours have been spent yukking it up at the multiplex. this flick is so great i don't know where to start! how about the actors? ben stiller was perfectly cast as an ugly little jewish guy and drew barrymore wowed us all with her peformance as a mildly retarded eight year old! do i smell double oscars?
anyway, check out our new (to you, at least) short, open mic night.
here's a plot summary:
In terms of living the American Dream, Alex and Nancy have it pretty good. They're a young, vibrant couple in New York City with bright futures ahead of them. But one thing is missing: a home of their own. But their new home comes with one feature they didn't expect: an upstairs rent-controlled tenant, Mrs. Connelly, who isn't quite as easy going or frail as Alex and Nancy originally anticipated. As their blissful life begins to seriously fray around the edges, their dream home rapidly turns into a nightmare. It's then that they start to wonder: if they can't move Mrs. Connelly out...
after nearly 1 full year of chaos and corruption, we finally finished shooting episode 3 today. it would have been finished completely, but due to some severe computer problems, i managed to lose all the work that had been done so far (luckily all the footage is still on the master tapes, but i'll have to completely re-edit everything). fortunately my collection of 80's mp3s is still intact!
before everything went ritter i managed to upload another short we did a few weeks ago called "the book club". if you hated park place you might like this one better (i'm looking at you, dad). check the video section.
it's a photo bonanza!
also: a slightly modified version of park place is now up in the video section. i fixed a few small things that nobody but me would notice, and there are new title designs that should match up with future stuff.
brian skowron update: brian starts law school this week and it looks like he's going to be really busy! but he says to say hi to everyone and thanks for the flowers.
click up there to see the latest set of photos! i'm sorry that there's not actually something exciting going on.
our new short, park place, is available for download now in the video section. you should download it now! let me tell you, it's worth the effort!
also, if you haven't signed up for our mailing list, you should do that now so we can let you know when we have new stuff up here.
since attitudes about the show have seemed pretty lax lately, ben, anthony, daniel and i said "screw everyone!" and decided to take matters in to our own hands. in an unprecedented fit of productivity, we wrote and shot a new short in a few hours saturday night. it will probably be up on the web later this week and should tide you over until we finish episode 3. or until you pop open that next tube of pringles, tubby!
congrats to college graduate brian skowron! we're so proud of you, big guy!
in honor of brian's graduation, check out this photo of him performing with a rap/rock group! that's brian in the yellow hat.
episode 3 is almost done. we have to shoot a couple more scenes and do a little music and we should be set.
we've shot about 80% of episode 3, as well as a little bit of episode 4. we're going to try to have both of these episodes done by the end of this month, so we should be pretty busy for a while.
after these next two episodes (which, by the way, put the first two episodes to shame), we're going to take a short break. "season 1" safely behind us, we'll be doing a short film starring patrick swinnea and writing the next few episodes of the show. and snorting lots of coke!
now you can follow along with the 15 minute show by downloading these scripts!
the cast page has been slightly updated. i guess andrew johnson and chris vivion are still working on their bios. i bet they're going to be really good!
episode 3 is in production, with several scenes already shot. i don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that ben probably isn't the funniest meyercord! maybe not even top 5. we'll be filming more on sunday.
once i finish the script for episode 4 in the next few days, we're going to begin an absurd amount of shooting that should leave us tired and broken. but we gotta give the people what they want!
the cast page is now up, and boy is it worth a visit! i also split the video and the audio sections into two seperate pages, because there is more media to come. due to overwhelming demand, there's a chance we might be putting episode scripts online to give you 15 minute show fanatics an inside look behind the scenes! thank me later (after you recover from that heart attack you just had)!
check out the crazy new about page! it's got everything you ever wanted to know about the show (and then some!)
in other news, brian skowron got a job as a nanny!
print this image out and fold it up somehow and pretend like we gave you an actual flyer.
sorry, i've been doing a pretty lousy job of keeping our devoted following up to date on everything related to the show. here's what's been going on:
1. we've been writing and shooting an enormous amount of material for upcoming episodes.
2. i spent a ton of money i don't have on a light kit and boom mic and stuff, so now we don't have to rely on the tv station at school.
3. right now i'm editing the second episode, which will (hopefully) be shown sunday, july 6th at patrick's house (i'll keep you posted on that).
4. ben decided he doesn't really care about the show so he ran off to europe.
5. a lot of drunk people at parties have given me some really, really awful sketch ideas.
6. evidently ashton kutcher and demi moore are dating now?!
7. there's talk of a 15 minute show event in late august.
8. "my big fat greek wallace" is supposed to be on some show on pbs in dallas, but who knows.
9. i went to new orleans with my mom.
10. oh yeah, after writing episode 2 and shooting a whole lot of it, we decided it sucked and we're not going to use it. so episode 3 is now episode 2.
i think that basically covers everything.
p.s. to the person from CBS who keeps visiting our website:
look, if you want to make an offer, we're willing to talk. let's quit beating around the bush here, asshole.
also, visit our friends at WIP studios.
in what can only be described as a miscarriage of justice, our 5 minute short, "my big fat greek wallace" came in second at the finals the other night. the movie that won was totally lame. we protested by drinking a lot.
our movie is in the finals, thursday night at the angelika. it starts at 7:30 and we're the last of the 10 finalists to be screened. and it's 2 dollars.
a ragtag team of 15 minute show cast and crew members participated in the 24 hour video race over the weekend. the panel of judges probably won't have the guts to recognize the genius of our 5 minute short, "My Big Fat Greek Wallace," but we're going to be at the Angelika on Wednesday night at 6:00pm to make sure that they actually watch it. we had a bunch of complimentary tickets, but those were lost and we think it's $2 per person to get in, and you get to watch 9 other crappy shorts. so come join us!
anyway that movie's going to be on the web in a few days so mike kreein and all of his lame friends can download it and masturbate to some brian skowron freeze-frames.
and we're putting the finishing touches on another short called "When Pogs Fly." that one's 10 minutes long and a lot more coherent.
with the announcement of the 2003-04 staff at nttv, we're optimistic about our chances of getting on the air there. right now we're shooting and editing episodes 2 & 3 and everyone's supposedly working on material for episode 4. hopefully by the end of the month episode 2 will be complete and we can have a party and then watch all this stuff at patrick's house. so keep an eye out for that.
p.s. big ups to brian for losing the tickets.
so why don't you go check that shit out.
so we finished the first episode of the show and submitted it to the station about a week and a half ago. they scheduled it for eight airings this week (including monday through friday at 1:40pm, a really wrong time for the show). it aired monday at 1:40 and was later deemed inappropriate for broadcast. it's been removed from the schedule for the rest of the week, and the station goes off the air after friday until the beginning of june. we might be changing a few things in the first episode, but i'm not sure exactly how to go about doing that.
anyway, we're in the process of filming episodes 2 & 3, and we're about to start writing episode 4. so the worst case scenario is that we'll have a bunch of episodes of a tv show that we can show our friends but can't play on channel 22. but hopefully we'll get a later time slot and make a few minor changes and everything will be cool.

from the nttv newsletter
What’s that new show on Channel 22 that has the whole campus talking? Why it’s The 15 Minute Show, a hilarious "sketch comedy program" that has ‘em rolling in the aisles! Of their living rooms!
It’s a crazy 15 minute show full of wacky sketches and wild characters, and it’s produced by UNT’s own Joey Nelson. "They said that I couldn’t write, direct and produce this show," Nelson said. "Well they were right!"
The 15 Minute Show features the talents of such rising stars as Jake Brown, Mike Gonzalez, Andrew Johnson, Kendra Kearby, Ben Meyercord, Brian Skowron, Patrick Swinnea, Chris Vivion and Margo Yabs.
Between bites of an enormous Denver omelet, host and co-producer Ben Meyercord said, "Mmmm, this is really good. You want to try this?"
Ben’s expert comic timing and effortless delivery made him a natural choice to host the show, but it was his ruthless intimidation of everyone involved with the production that ensured his spot.
Another key player is co-producer and cast member Brian Skowron. After catching everyone’s eye with his hilariously spot-on William Shatner impression, Skowron wowed the gang with some of his original characters and outrageous ideas.
"I’m thinking The Bachelor. Except with college students!" Skowron exclaimed at the first writing meeting.
When asked about her involvement with the show, co-producer Margo Yabs said "Joey. Stop calling me."
Executive producer Mario Peņa said "there’s a tilde over the
‘n’ in my last name. Why can’t any of you a------- ever get that right?"
Early reviews of the show are extremely positive. According to Joey’s mom, "it’s the best show ever, except for M*A*S*H." With ringing endorsements like these, it’s clear that The 15 Minute Show is here to stay.
Until everyone graduates! And gets the hell out of here as quickly as possible!
A brief sidenote: although you might see them together all the time, Joey and Margo are just friends. If any of you ladies out there have any questions about this, feel free to call Joey at (940) 320-5445.
