What’s that new show on Channel 22 that has the whole campus talking? Why it’s The 15 Minute Show, a hilarious "sketch comedy program" that has ‘em rolling in the aisles! Of their living rooms!
It’s a crazy 15 minute show full of wacky sketches and wild characters, and it’s produced by UNT’s own Joey Nelson. "They said that I couldn’t write, direct and produce this show," Nelson said. "Well they were right!"
The 15 Minute Show features the talents of such rising stars as Jake Brown, Mike Gonzalez, Andrew Johnson, Kendra Kearby, Ben Meyercord, Brian Skowron, Patrick Swinnea, Chris Vivion and Margo Yabs.
Between bites of an enormous Denver omelet, host and co-producer Ben Meyercord said, "Mmmm, this is really good. You want to try this?"
Ben’s expert comic timing and effortless delivery made him a natural choice to host the show, but it was his ruthless intimidation of everyone involved with the production that ensured his spot.
Another key player is co-producer and cast member Brian Skowron. After catching everyone’s eye with his hilariously spot-on William Shatner impression, Skowron wowed the gang with some of his original characters and outrageous ideas.
"I’m thinking The Bachelor. Except with college students!" Skowron exclaimed at the first writing meeting.
When asked about her involvement with the show, co-producer Margo Yabs said "Joey. Stop calling me."
Executive producer Mario Peņa said "there’s a tilde over the
‘n’ in my last name. Why can’t any of you a------- ever get that right?"
Early reviews of the show are extremely positive. According to Joey’s mom, "it’s the best show ever, except for M*A*S*H." With ringing endorsements like these, it’s clear that The 15 Minute Show is here to stay.
Until everyone graduates! And gets the hell out of here as quickly as possible!
A brief sidenote: although you might see them together all the time, Joey and Margo are just friends. If any of you ladies out there have any questions about this, feel free to call Joey at (940) 320-5445.
